The Sports Source will be conducting their College Clinic the day before each weekend of the Force’s Rocky Mountain Cup & College Showcase. TSS College Clinic is an opportunity of high school age players to be trained and scouted by College Coaches. 2007 college coaches conducting TSS College Clinic included: Univeristy of Colorado, Regis, Colorado School of Mines, Metro State University.

The Boulder County Force has experienced significant growth in player registration this year and now has just over 1200 players in Force uniforms. Registration is up nearly 300% since 2004. The significant growth is accredit to an increase in player registration at the high school ages, a steady increase in U9-U11 players since 2004 and the fall 2007 launch of the Force recreational program. In total, the Force has 82 youth teams and one adult team.  The Force currently field teams from kindergarten to adult.

On Sunday, Feb 24th, the BC Force players had an opportunity to train with Greg Ryan, former US Women’s National Team coach and current head Women’s soccer coach at the University of Michigan.  Coach Ryan was an instructor at the 2nd Annual Boulder Coaches Symposium hosted by BC Force and Boulder Indoor Soccer.  Coach Ryan’s first session of the day focused on "soccer conditioning" excerises and techniques used by the US Women’s National Team. His second session of the day focused on different ways to effectively get behind the defensive line and beat the offside trap.  He talked about bent runs, angled runs, runs parallel to the offside line in addition to chipping balls into space behind the line.  After several drills executing the various runs and playing the ball thru the defensive line into space Coach Ryan set up controlled 3v3 scrimmages which also utilized 2 neutral players in the attack.  This was a fantastic opportunity for the team, something most youth soccer players can only dream of.

The BCF U15 Red and Barca teams traveled to Albuquerque, NM to compete in the Classic FC Spring Cup and came home champions. The U15 Red team, coached by Steve Lepper, won the Gold division.  In the finals they defeated NM Clash Azul 3-1. Monsoor Ezzat and Willy Husted led the team, each recording 2 goals and an assist. The U15 Barca team, coached by Doug Klingemann and Kevin Hueth, started with a 3-3 draw with La Forza (NM).  They then proceeded to rattle off 3 wins in a row, including a 3-2 victory of Real Colorado Red, a 2-1 win over Westminster Cosmos, and a 2-1 victory over host Classic FC Impact 2-1 to clinch the tournament. Enrique Womack led the team with 4 goals on the weekend.

The Boulder County Force U10 Italy Boys, coached by John Siegrist, started their spring season in style and represented the Club well at the inaugural Colorado Cup in Littleton. The boys took home the Cup after defeating the Colorado Rush 3-1 in the championship game.

The Italy Boys are no strangers to tournament championship games. In the fall 2007, Italy was a finalist in the Colorado Youth Soccer Cup and in the spring 2007 they surprised a U10 bracket by making it to the finals of The Boulder Cup as a U9 team.

I had one of my most exciting opportunities arise from playing soccer. I was honored with the opportunity to travel to Cocoa, Florida for the 2008 Super-Y League (SYL) National ODP Camp, January 16-19. The purpose of this camp is to showcase the top players from all the different SYL Divisions across North America and chose players for national ODP programs and a SYL National Select Team. College coaches were also in attendance in hopes of recruiting players for their schools. This is my story.

Bryan Windsor, BC Force U13 Red, performs a perfect "fake cross and chop cut" combination move to the inside of the defender. This is a great move for beating a defender 1 vs. 1 on the outside flanks of the field.  Notice how Bryan is looking to the inside of the field and really "sells" the cross by exaggerating the fake kick. Bryan demonstrates excellent balance and agility during this sequence.
