ALL SPRING OPTION 1 TEAMS ARE FULL - Registration is closed.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
Players must be enrolled in the Development Academy to be eligible for the Option 1 program.
This recreational program is intended for more advanced players seeking additional playing time in a slightly more competitive environment. Players are expected to have a strong passion for the game and better-than-average dribbling, passing and shooting skills. Teams practice 1x/week and have games on Saturdays - games are 8v8. Teams are coached by a volunteer parent with supplemental training from BCF staff coaches. Teams travel for away games to areas generally between Colorado Springs and Fort Collins.
This program focuses on team concepts and developing the competitive spirit.
SPRING 2012 SEASON DATES:
First Practice: week of Feb. 27
First Game: Mar. 10
Last Game: TBD
TEAMS:
Preferred roster size: 11-12
Players register as individuals and teams are formed on a first come, first served basis. BCF does not hold tryouts. Returning players have first priority and will be reassigned their previous team unless requested otherwise. Players wait-listed for the fall season will be given next priority.
COACHES:
Teams are coached by a volunteer parent approved by BCF. Teams receive supplemental coaching from BCF staff coaches.
PRACTICES:
Option 1 teams practice 1x/week at East Boulder Recreational Center (EBRC). BCF staff coaches Ryan Henkel (girls) and Kyle Lineberger (boys) will run practices with assistance from other BCF staff coaches and the volunteer parent coach. Anticipated practice days/times are as follows, but may be subject to change:
Girls Practice
Wed, 4:30-5:15
Boys Practice
Thurs, 4:30-5:15
GAMES:
Games are played on Saturdays, and occasionally on Sundays. Home games are held at Douglas Elementary School in east Boulder. Teams travel for away games generally between Colorado Springs and Fort Collins. Games are 8v8 with two 25-minute halves. A paid, licensed referee will officiate each game.
While still a recreational program, Option 1 may be viewed as a pre-curser to competitive play. It is an opportunity for players to begin to learn what its like to play at a more competitive level, how to play with different players and in different positions, and how to support their teammates both on the field and from the bench. Volunteer coaches will strive for equality in playing time, but equal playing time is NOT guaranteed, and some players may get more playing time than others in close match situations.
UNIFORMS:
Each player is expected to have an official BCF Adidas uniform. Our BCF uniform kit includes a red jersey, white jersey, red shorts, and red socks. The kit may be purchased at Rocky Mountain Soccer for $61. Players must also have shin guards. Players are also required to have numbers on the back of their jerseys.
