PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
This in-house recreational program is designed for boys and grils ages 4-7 wanting to discover the game of soccer for the first time or continue their development as a returning player. Players practice 1x/week and have games on Friday nights - games are 4v4. Teams are coached by a volunteer parent. The focus is on individual ball skills and having FUN!

COACHES:
Teams are coached by a volunteer parent. Many teams already have a parent coach in place. However, in some cases, a team will be formed with multiple individual registrants who have a school and/or geographic location in common. In these cases, BCF will notify all the families on teh team and will request a parent to step forward as a volunteer coach. Soccer experienced is preferred, but not a must. Many of our volunteer coaches are just high-energy people who are good with kids - and their teams to great ! BCF provides coaching support to volunteer coaches through coaching clinics and phone/email consultation.

TEAMS:
Preferred roster size: 7-8 players
Teams are formed based on age, then on school and/or geographic location. There are not tryouts and BCF discourages "recruiting" and formation of all-star teams. Most of our teams are coed at this age level - which BCF strongly encourages. However, there are often more boys than girls and not all teams are able to include one or more girls on their team - so some teams may be all boys. Conversely, occasionally we have a group of grils who all want to play together, so some teams may be all girls.
Teams may be formed by a parent volunteer coach by gathering a group of school or neighborhood kids. The coach should submit an anticipated team roster to BCF and players should request that coach when they to through the online registration process (in the "Special Request" field).
Players may also register as individuals or may request to play with a friend (also in the "Special Request" field). BCF will do its best to honor special requests. Individual registrants will be placed on a team accorading to school and/or geographic location.
PRACTICES:
U5-U7 teams practice 1x/week. The parent volunteer coach will select the practice day/location with input from the team. Practice locations are often schools or local parks. Occasionally a team practice day won’t work for one individual on the team - in which case BCF will work to place that individual on another team with a more suitable practice date.
GAMES:
Games are played on Friday nights at Pleasant View Soccer Complex in north Boulder. We’ve found our families love the social aspect of the evening and keeping their weekends free for other activities. Game times are 4:00, 5:00 or 6:00pm.
Games are 4v4 with three 10-minute periods.
UNIFORMS:
Each player is expected to have an official BCF Adidas uniform. Our BCF uniform kit includes a red jersey, white jersey, red shorts, and white socks. The kit may be purchased at Rocky Mountain Soccer for $61. Players mus also have shin guards. Soccer shoes are optional - tennis shoes work just fine at this age level.

Fees include game field rental, Colorado Youth Soccer fees, limited insurance, coaching clinics for volunteer parent coaches, and administrative support. Uniform costs are not included.
