Force coaches stay busy during the summer
Coaches participate in ODP, international soccer and top summer programs
“Enjoy your break?” It’s a common question Force coaches hear during the summer. While it’s important for coaches and players to takes a break from the game periodically during the year, most our coaches spend at least part of their summer still connected to soccer. Summer is a great time for coaching education courses, catching up on soccer reading and DVDs, workshop, camps, games and even pick up soccer. Force coaches are always work looking for ways to further develop their craft. The benefit to the Force players are the new training ideas and concepts that these coaches bring back to the Club and their teams. Hear is a list of what some Force coaches have been up to:
• Ryan Henkel coached one of the Colorado Olympic Development Program (ODP) boys teams at the Region IV ODP camp in Oregon. Heather Solar coached one of the Colorado Olympic Development Program (ODP) girls teams at the Region IV ODP camp in California.
• Heather Solar took the NSCAA Premier level coaching course, that organizations highest level coaching course.
• Jeff Frykholm took the USSF “B” level coaching course.
• David Napior, Julian Suarez and Mohammad Idrissi took the USSF “Y” Course.
• John Welsch organized a Boulder County Force Summer Coaching Course that was attended by about 15 Force coaches each week.
• Hardy Kalisher was a guest coach with the Colorado Rapids U17 Academy team for 18 days of training and participation in the Major League Soccer U17 Cup.
• Ryan Henkel and the U14 Red girls team attended the University of North Carolina Soccer Camp.
• David Napior was a staff coach at the Notre Dame University Soccer Camp.
• Brad Pellman took the U17 Man U boys to Costa Rica for a series of international games.
• Various Force coaches participated in 6 weeks of the Force Summer Camp program. Force coaches also joined the staff of various other local summer camps.
• The Force adult men’s team played in the Boulder Men’s A summer league at Pleasant View. The team featured a combination for Force coaches, high school age players and alumni.
