U16 Red Boys Reach Colorado State Cup Final
U14 Boys Reach State Cup Semi-Finals for second time

After a great run through pool play, the quarter final, and semi-final matches, the U16 Red Boys, coached by Jeff Frykholm, proudly represented Boulder County Force in the final of the 2009 Colorado State Cup.  Despite losing in the championship match, their accomplishments in the State Cup were remarkable.  In the 5 matches preceding the final, the U16’s scored 23 goals against teams from several of the most competitive clubs in Colorado. Nine different players scored goals throughout the tournament, reflecting the quality and balance of the team.  The goalkeepers were solid in the goal as well, conceding only two goals in the 5 matches preceding the final.  Beau Salgado was named the MVP of the State Cup Final, an award given to the top players of the match by a panel of CSYSA staff coaches. In addition, the team was able to share the semi-final and final matches with Dion La Foucade, the internationally known professional coach who has had a long relationship with BCForce, and had hosted the team during its trip to Trinidad and Tobago over spring break.  While in T &T, the team played some of the best teams in the Caribbean region in preparation for the State Cup.  At that time, the boys and Dion made a promise to each other that if the team made it to the State Cup Final, Dion would come to Colorado to see them play.  Both sides kept their end of the bargain, and it was a special accomplishment and reunion. Congratulations to the Boys U16 Red team for their fantastic State Cup run, and a great job in the Final!

The U14 Red Boys, coached by John Welsch, reached the State Cup Semi-finals for the second consecutive year. The team has had an excellent spring season and continues to be undefeated in the Colorado Youth Soccer Premier 1 league.
