Adam Hinkelman Reflects On His First Year Of College Soccer
Force alum starts for Regis University as freshman
My College Soccer Experience
By Adam Hinkelman
It was our last game of the season, and we were playing the best NCAA Division II team in the country. I waited in line for my name to be called on the loud speaker introducing the starting line up. My name was called and I ran out to the center of the field. I knew at that point all my hard work and preparation paid off. It’s an amazing feeling being able to play collegiate athletics and the experience truly changed my life.
Playing college soccer is a goal that many young men and women strive to achieve. It takes years of preparation, discipline, and goodgrades to end up playing for the college of your choice. I played soccer with Boulder County Force from U7 to U18 and played for the top team every year. I earned many honors and awards throughout high school, which helped propel my soccer career. Although the process of playing college soccer was much tougher than I ever imagined.
After signing to play for Regis University, a sense of accomplishment overwhelmed me.

The Boulder County Goals for Life Project. En la cancha. Por tu vida.
Founded by BCF staff coach, Jeff Frykholm, the ¡Golazo! Project is a collaboration between the Boulder County Force and several local agencies including Boulder Valley School District, The University of Colorado, the Family Resource Schools Program, and the Boulder Enhanced Supervision Team of Boulder County.
Building on the great affinity that many Latino/Latina children in Boulder County have for soccer, the ¡Golazo! Project seeks to guide area 4th and 5th grade students through the often challenging transition from elementary to middle school. Teams of children from schools that serve diverse populations in Boulder County meet with BCF and ¡Golazo! staff members after school three times each week. One day is devoted to an academic enrichment experience in which students engage in unique learning opportunities in the fields of mathematics and science. A second day is spent on the soccer field in high level training sessions with BCF staff coaches including BCF Director of Coaching Advance Teams, Milo Woodson. On Friday evenings, the teams compete in matches sponsored by the BCF Developmental Academy. BCF Director of Developmental & Recreational, David Napior has worked closely with the program to assure their participation in the BCF friday night matches. In addition to these elements of the program, ¡Golazo! players also engage in a service learning project in their local communities – be it cleaning up a neighborhood park, helping elderly members of their communities with various tasks, or helping to improve their school facilities.
