Interested players should contact the BCF Super Y League Coordinator, Hardy Kalisher: hardy.kalisher@bcforce.com

Summer 2008 Super Y League information will be announced in April.

What is Super Y League?

The SYL is an invitation only nationwide league that features the top youth players and teams in the country. The future of elite soccer lives in the United Soccer League’s Super Y League (SYL), a professionalized system that is the first step for developing elite youth soccer players in North America. Affiliated with United States Soccer Federation and partnered with US Club Soccer, the league is designed for talented youth players destined for collegiate, professional or international careers. The league contains the youth academies of Major League Soccer (Pro) clubs, USL First Division (Pro), USL Second Division (Pro), Premier Development League (Semi-Pro), W-League (Pro), as well as many of the North America’s premier youth clubs. Through Olympic Development Program status events such as the North American Finals and National ODP Camps, the nation’s top players are identified for selection to US National Team Programs. SYL league players are eligible to be selected to participate in the SYL National ODP Camp. Selection to the SYL National ODP Camp is based on player performance in Division as nomination by the league coaches and scouts. To be the best players must play with and against the best. SYL is simply the best youth soccer in North America.

BC Force Super Y League Teams:
The Boulder County Force has been invited to join the inaugural season of the Rocky Mountain Division of the Super Y League at the U16 and U17 Boys ages. This is an exceptional opportunity for the BCF to participate in the most elite youth league available in the North America. SYL is a sanction Olympic Development Program. As a member of SYL the BC Force will be recognized as one of the top clubs in the west and take a leadership role in Colorado player development. The Rocky Mountain Division’s will expand to include Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Kansas and Nevada. The following clubs are charter members of the Super Y-League Rocky Mountain Division:
Boulder County Force
Colorado Rapids
Colorado Rush
Real Salt Lake (Utah)
Real Salt Lake, Arizona (Arizona)

League Logistics:
The SYL Rocky Mountain Division will start out small (5-6 teams at boys U16 and U17) in 2007.  The initial clubs will work on a development plan for 2008 that includes expansion, duration, cross-divisional matches, etc. (Other SYL divisions offer U13, U14, U15, U16, U17 and U20 boys and girls teams.)

There will be 3-4 events consisting of 8-10 games during the summer months of June, July, and early August. The SYL events are not “tournaments”. The focus is on quality not quantity of games. Teams play one game a day.

The champion of each age division would complete the season at the North American Finals from November 16-21, 2007 in Tampa, FL.

Team Formation Logistics:
For 2007, BC Force SYL teams are formed informal tryouts and invitation. Any interested player may contact the Boulder County Force SYL Coordinator, Hardy Kalisher about joining the teams. Teams and are registered through US Club Soccer and are independent from teams participating in regular Colorado Youth Soccer (USYSA) leagues and tournaments. Since the BC Force SYL teams will be a sanctioned ODP teams, players can play for their “club” team and also the BC Force SYL team. ALL PLAYER MUST TRYOUT OR BE SELECTED FOR THE SYL TEAMS. Placement on a regular BC Force competitive team does not guarantee placement on the BC Force SYL team. The SYL participation is optional and very selective.

SYL teams are based on “player pools” (similar to Colorado ODP Pools). Up to 26 players can be registered to a team with a maximum of 18 “rostered” per game. 26 players make it easier to accommodate summer conflicts and provides and opportunity for more players to receive high quality summer training in this elite program.

2007 BCF Super Y-League Coaches:
John Welsch, BC Force Director of Coaching
Hardy Kalisher, BC Force Director of Operations & Super Y League National ODP Staff
Steve Lepper, BC Force Director of Coaching, Junior Boys

SYL teams have an seperate fee from the regular BCF club fees. SYL player fees cover, administrative and operational costs, player registration, referee fees, insurance, fields, uniforms, BCF administrative support and coaches. FEES DO NOT INCLUDE PLAYER TRAVEL EXPENSES.

There is a $150.00 SYL Deposit due with the registration paper work before a player can tryout for the SYL team. This deposit will be applied to the player’s overall fee if the player makes the squad. If a player does not make the team, the deposit will be returned. Current BCF Players are excempt from the deposit but must pay in full at the time of registration. There are no payment plans for SYL. Fees may be paid by credit card. Player travel is not included in the SYL player fees. BC Force SYL teams will travel as a club. For SYL events in Colorado, Kansas and Utah, BCF teams will travel by car, “team bus” or airplane. The SYL fees cover travel, lodging and meals for SYL Coaches. Players will not be asked to pay any additional costs for coaches or staff. For 2007, the SYL teams will participate in 2 out-of-state trips during the summer months for Rocky Mountain Division league play. If (when) a team qualifies for the National Finals an additional trip will be to Florida in November following the Colorado high school soccer season.

Team Management:
The BCF SYL coaches and office staff will manage SYL teams. We may ask for some volunteer help.

Practices & Training:
Training schedules will be announced. Many players have summer practices with their regular competitive club teams during the summer. BC Force SYL players will be expected to participate in SYL specific practice. Two weeks prior to an SYL event, teams may practice 2-3 times during a week.
